About / Manchester, UK

An engineer’s mindset.
A researcher’s curiosity.

I’m Thomas Day, a hands-on software engineer, researcher and Head of Innovation at Rezzil based in Manchester, UK. I have a PhD in Computer Science specialising in Virtual and Mixed Reality for training and rehabilitation.

01 / My practice

Engineering and leadership,
together.

I work at the intersection of software engineering, immersive technology and applied research. I develop production software in Unity and C#, build tools and frameworks for data-driven 3D experiences, and investigate how new technologies can support training, analysis and interaction.

A key area of my engineering work is converting raw skeletal tracking data into pre-posed representations that can be consumed consistently by different 3D environments. Separating source data from any single renderer or application makes the resulting motion data more reusable.

As Head of Innovation at Rezzil, I also help shape technical direction, assess emerging technologies, plan development work, mentor engineers and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. I continue to design systems and write production code.

I build relationships with technology partners, including HTC VIVE, to exchange knowledge and understand new platform capabilities. I’m also expanding my technical range by learning Unreal Engine and Kotlin with Jetpack XR.
